★A Word from Nobuyuki Nojima

This time, with surprise as the theme, I've focused on routines where effects unfold at a brisk pace
and then build to an unexpected climax.

Some of these routines took me eight years to develop.

If even one of them makes it into your repertoire,
nothing would make me happier.

Transcript Summary

Running time: approx. 1 hour 21 minutes

This is a close-up card magic lecture by Nobuyuki Nojima featuring several of his original routines, each shown in both performance and detailed explanation. The material ranges from small-packet effects using around six cards to a card discovery with a stacked deck, sandwich techniques, color changes, and the Ambitious Card.

① Sandwich Travelers: The four Aces jump one after another between two Jokers, ending with a surprise twist. The routine is built around two packet switches using an in-jog, the Biddle Grip, break controls, a secret addition, and a reverse count, with tips on handling angles and presentation.

② A Set Deck That Reveals Suit and Value: Using a stack of 48 cards arranged in an original system, cards indicating the suit and value of the spectator's selection appear naturally on either side of it. Also covered is the process-of-elimination logic that uses the bottom card as a third indicator when two cards alone aren't enough. A variation applying the Two-Two Jokers technique is included as well.

③ Neo Crazy Card: Based on a professional magician's Crazy Card, this recreates a visual effect in which red and black cards change places, using regular cards. Both a climax using the Ascanio Spread and a variation using permutations are explained.

④ Ambitious Card: The classic effect in which a selected card repeatedly rises to the top, arranged in five phases. After rising twice, the card sinks, changes, and finally appears under impossible conditions, making for an original routine that requires no signature and emphasizes surprise. Fundamental techniques such as multiple Double Lift variations, a convincing control, and the Mid-Air Change are also carefully explained.

Centered on small-packet magic, the lecture goes deep into the principles behind the techniques, angle considerations, and presentation ideas, making it ideal for intermediate and advanced magicians who have mastered the basic sleights.
